We are excited to announce Phase I of construction on Children’s Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas, Inc’s newly named Stephens Campus for Children & Families is complete! Town & Country Plaza, the former headquarters to Town & Country Food stores, was completed in January 2021. This building was remodeled to house CASA, Family Enrichment Services, Outreach & Awareness, Administration, and the Junior League of San Angelo Family Resource Center.
In addition to Phase I completion, CAC CEO Heather Ward announced in January the dedication of the campus in honor of Pollyanna & Steve Stephens and their family. Due to the generosity of the Stephens, Brooks, and Bates families, the campus had strong support before the first ask of support was made to local philanthropists, donors, and foundations. Their family secured purchase of the then Sunaco Building (former Town & Country Food Stores Headquarters), which was the original building of Pollyanna & Steve Stephens. In addition, the family secured the purchase of the 1.7 acres of land where Hope House will sit (to the north of the existing building). Their commitment to children and families in our community through their generous giving has allowed their legacy to live on in the once Town & Country Food Stores building. CAC proudly recognizes the Stephens family with the designation of their name for the campus’ namesake.

In July 2020, construction began on the 1.7 acres north of Town & Country Plaza for the Hope House building. This building will serve children and families through forensic interviews, family advocacy, multi-disciplinary team coordination, and therapy services. In addition to housing CAC staff, partner agencies including San Angelo Police Department, Child Protective Investigations, Homeland Security, and Shannon Hospital will be on site to better serve children in their time of need. New construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2021. With the construction of the new building, our CAC campus will be complete. On February 24, 2020, staff, board members, philanthropists, foundations, volunteers, and community members joined to witness the groundbreaking for the new campus of CAC. Guests of honor were the local philanthropists, donors, and foundations who supported the $6.9 million dollar campaign, which began in the spring of 2019 and concluded in November of 2019. The existing building, Town & Country Plaza, will be remodeled and will house CASA, Family Enrichment Services, Outreach & Awareness and Administration. North of Town & Country Plaza, new construction will begin for the Hope House program.
