The Need
There are thousands of children in the Concho Valley who have experienced abuse or neglect.
Child abuse is a world-wide issue crossing borders, racial divides, and socioeconomic classes. It impacts children and families from all walks of life, and something must be done about it.
Due to the complex nature of child abuse, the involvement of many different professionals, such as law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, and medical and mental health professionals, is required to investigate, prosecute, and intervene. Historically, information was not routinely shared and efforts were rarely coordinated, resulting in increased trauma for the child and decreased consistency for the case. This uncoordinated investigative process often re-traumatized the very children these agencies sought to rescue.
Children’s Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas, Inc. provides a safe, child-friendly environment and acts as the independent, neutral advocate for children and families in our community through our many services to ensure their needs are met.
